General Product installation
Please read the following carefully before installing the unit in your system – your unit may need to be reconfigured by your Linn retailer. For further assistance, try our customer support page |
General Speaker installation
We recommend that your Linn loudspeakers are unpacked, installed and adjusted by an authorised Linn retailer. To get the best from your Linn loudspeakers, it is important that they are positioned and levelled correctly. Please note, in order to achieve the very best from your Linn loudspeakers, some adjustment may be required after positioning, levelling and connecting. See the Fine adjustment section.
Subwoofer use in a Linn DS/DSM systemExaktbox SubThe Exaktbox Sub can only be used with Exakt speakers/Exaktbox(es). Non Exakt systemIn Space Optimisation > Room Setup you can add "Additional Subwoofers" |
LAN/Network
Networking componentsFor a list of some network components you can try, check HERE Changing to a new router the Linn DS will no longer connectSome new routers, such as Talk Talk, have network sockets that only support 1000-BaseT connections. Linn DS products support a maximum 100-BaseT connection.
Fritzbox not seeing the Linn DS/DSM productsFritzbox reported having issues with Apple broadcasts and losing connections. This appear to be due to the Fritzbox monitoring the LAN sockets and shutting down anything that is not active and going into Green (power saving) mode. The manufacturer has reported the following fix: 1. Open a web browser and enter "fritz.box" into the address bar to open the router's configuration page 2. Go in to advanced/expert mode, rather than Wizard mode 3. Go to the "System > Energy Monitor > Settings" pane 4. Set the LAN port that the DS is plugged into to be "always active" 5. Click the "Apply" button
TECHNICOLOR TG799 not seeing Linn DS/DSM productsTechnicolor firmware V18.1 does not see any Linn DS/DSM products. We suspect that your Internet Service Provider has recently upgraded your Router from V17.1 to V18.1. Please contact your ISP and get them to revert the Technicolor Router back to Firmware V17.1 MESH networks
Checking internet connection consistencyIf your Radio keeps muting and you have a Windows PC you can check how good your connection is to the internet using PingPlot.

Volume \ Unity Gain options
Can I turn off the Volume control in the DSI or DSM to make them source onlyYes in Konfig Volume options give you the full line level volume out. However this will disable the internal power amplifier for obvious reasons (No volume control) Note: If you turn off the volume control this will also DISABLE any Exakt speaker or Exaktboxes that are connected to this Linn DSM. |
Product Connection
What Linn PreAmplifiers can the DS products control?Bute, Cara and Davaar software can control:-
Some of these products may need their software updated to allow the DS products to control them. Earlier Linn pre-amplifiers cannot be controlled by the DS products. An Exotik+DA which has been updated to run Akurate Kontrol firmware can be controlled in the same way as an Akurate Kontrol. An Exotik (non-DA) may respond to on/off commands but not volume or source if identified as a Klimax Kontrol, but this is not an officially supported feature.

Note:
7 The Sneaky DSM can be only configured as single ended. This can drive, in stereo with common volume control, either 4off speakers with 33W RMS power each,(for Bi-Amping), or 2off speakers with 33W RMS each.
13 Can be configured in Konfig application to change the Default SPDIF Input a SPDIF output
