- DS/DSM
- This reference to the general products type of DS or DSM.
- Linn DS: This is a Media renderer or media player.
- Linn DSM: This is a Linn DS with the addition of Multimedia inputs. Typically HDMI, Analogue, Toslink and SPDIF input(s)
- The Linn is normally replaced with its family name, e.g.Klimax, Akurate..
E
- EXAKT
- Exakt Technology is the Linn technology for digital audio transfer between Linn products. This allow music to be transported with no loss in quality to loudspeakers, Digital to audio convertors and from analogue sources, such as Urika-II
- EXAKT cables
- Cables and terminations - Exakt cables
- EXAKT CROSSOVER
- Top level crossover from the passive or Aktiv alternatives. This is a digital crossover that deals with phase as well as frequency with an even higher precision compared to Aktiv.
- EXAKTBOX
- This is an electronic crossover that provides Line-Level, (RCA 2V RMS), audio channels to directly drive loudspeaker drive units bypassing their internal crossover.
- Recent software update allows to be used in Surround channel line-level feed to directly supply Surround Audio channels.
- EXAKTBOX-I
- Same as Exaktbox above, but also has Power Amplfier outputs.
- EXAKT-ONLY
- This describes products WITHOUT any analogue audio outputs. The only outputs are EXAKT-LINK and digital outputs e.g.Akurate System Hub and Klimax Exakt DSM.
- EXAKT-LINK
- Exakt link transport is the data cable that feeds the digital audio between Linn products.
- Eternally Aktiv
- Loudspeaker that have NO internal/passive crossover. The speaker drive units are wired directly to the terminal to be fed from an external crossover and power amplifiers.
- When a speaker is in this state DO NOT feed a full range signal into the loudspeaker as this can/will damage the loudspeaker drive units.
F
- FALLBACK
- FALLBACK is the state of a Linn DS/DSM when it is waiting/in process of doing a software update.
- Firmware
- Firmware is the operating system of a product.(Auskerry, Bute, Cara, Davaar...)
G
H
- HDMI
- HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) Linn DSM/HDMI support HDMI 1.4 and later products support HDMI 2.0.
- HUB
- This is the
Hub
for all inputs and output connections. Previous variations includeExakt DSM
I
- Internet Radio
-
- Also known as TuneIn Radio
- ISOBARIK
-
- The isobaric loading principle used by some Linn loudspeakers
J
K
- Katalyst
- This is the Technology used in the Katalyst DAC. More information can be found HERE
- Kazoo control software
- Linn DS/DSM control software to allow you to control the Linn DS from a PC, MacBook or Android/Apple tablet/phone.
- Kazoo server
- Kazoo Server is a UPnP Media Server to share music from your local collection and also works controlling Linn DS/DSM from Crestron and Control4
- Kontrol
- This is the Linn term for a Pre-amplifier.
L
- Linn DS/DSM
- This reference to the general products type of DS or DSM.
- Linn DS: This is a Media renderer or media player.
- Linn DSM: This is a Linn DS with the addition of Multimedia inputs. Typically HDMI, Analogue, Toslink and SPDIF input(s)
- The Linn is normally replaced with its family name, e.g.Klimax, Akurate..
