Linn Kisto AV amplifier upgrade options
The Kisto AV is a very complex Surround Sound pre-amplifier designed to work with the Linn Unidisk player. The Unidisk, with the Kisto allows playback of SACD, CD and DVD discs. The communication link between these products allowed the Kisto to quickly change its configuration to match the disc format.
The Kisto's original purpose was to be used in a home theatre and assist control of the area with switch closures, control of the Projector etc.as well as dealing with the many video standard available are that time. Thus automate to match the media style you are playing.
However, most, if not all of the video formats supported by the Kisto have now been replaced with HDMI and streaming services.The automation requirement has changed for other controls systems such as Control4, ALexa etc so no longer required.
As a solution for the Kisto, (and Unidisk), there are a an exhaustive number of replacement options. Some Examples and suggestions are shown below:
Example 1: Solutions with the option of using, (or not using), the existing Loudpspeakers and Power Amplfiers
- A GOOD solution in this scenario.

- This can be expanded to a 7.1 system
- A BEST solution in this scenario
