CEC
- Purpose
-
- Enable Consumer Electronics Control of the Linn DSM
- When you have the ARC enabled on your TV and the Linn DSM is listening to your TV via the HDMI ARC input, this will pass through the Volume, Mute & Standby commands from your TV Remote to control the Linn DSM. This will allow you to directly control the Linn DSM from your TV remote and will reduce the requirement for multiple remotes or 2in1, 3in1.. remotes.
- Troubleshooting:
- No audio
-
- This may occur even if it worked on earlier Davaar firmware, due to changes in communication.
- Set the TV output from eARC to ARC.
- Set the DSM HDMI setting from eARC/ARC to ARC only.
- <v>Power cycle both the DSM and the TV so the new settings take effect.
- Control or start-up issues (Davaar 116 onwards)
-
- From Davaar 116, CEC control is opened to other HDMI devices (e.g. set-top boxes, Apple TV), which may cause new issues.
- Fix: disable CEC control on the other HDMI devices, then power cycle all products.
- Fire TV: Settings > Equipment Control > Off. If set to Manual: Manage Equipment > Fire TV > Receiver Input > “None Selected”.
- Apple TV: Settings > Remotes and Devices > Control TVs and Receivers > Off.
- CEC Auto Source / Power Control (
- Removed from Davaar 116 after inclusion of the Surround module option, this was found to be non-functional)
- Enable to auto-switch to TV ARC connection and action TV standby if CEC commands are available.
- DSM Turns on TV1
- ENABLED: selecting the ARC source turns the TV on; selecting a non-video source (e.g. Radio, playlist) puts the TV into standby.
- DISABLED:selecting ARC does not affect the TV.
- TV Turns on DSM1

- Linked to TV Switches Linn DSM Source, which must also be enabled for the DSM to switch to ARC.
- DISABLED: the Linn DSM is unaffected.
- TV Switches DSM Source1
- ENABLED: when the DSM is on and the TV is turned on and requests ARC, the DSM switches to ARC.
- - Switch to DISABLED if you do NOT the Linn DSM automatically switch to the ARC source.
- DISABLED: the DSM source is unaffected. Use this if automatic switching to ARC is not wanted.

- 1TV Dependency
- These functions rely entirely on the TV’s CEC implementation and may not work on all TVs. This is a TV limitation, not a DSM fault.
- Example: some TVs do not send Set Source to ARC when leaving standby.
- Workaround: set the DSM start-up source to ARC.
