Now that Linn App has been released, will Kinsky or Kazoo disappear?

No. Kinsky & Kazoo will remain available. If this changes, we will let you know.

What is Kazoo Server?

Kazoo server is a media server that implements the standard UPnP/AV media server specification and the OpenHome Media (ohMedia) Server specification. The ohMedia server specification is analogous to the ohMedia renderer specification that the Linn DS implements. The ohMedia server specification is what has made Kazoo's browsing and searching experience possible, and it will allow further refinements in the future.

Can I use both Kinsky and Kazoo to control my Linn system?

Yes. Kinsky and Kazoo will operate correctly when used together in a Linn system, both when run on different devices and when run on the same device.

I currently run a media server on a Linux-based NAS; can I try Kazoo?

Absolutely. Kazoo works with both the ohMedia server specification and the UPnP/AV media server specification. However, the new browse and search features will only be available if you use Kazoo Server.

How do I get my classical music to appear under the classical tab?

You need to have tagged your classical tracks with the composer tag and have “Classical” in a genre tag. Note that “Classical” needs to start with a capital C! You can tag your tracks using your favourite tag editor.

I have a UPnP/AV media renderer, can I control this with Kazoo?

Kazoo only supports ohMedia renderers. However, support for UPnP/AV media renderers is on our list of features to add to Kazoo.
