Why Dynamik?

Linn Dynamik powers products more effectively whilst optimising audio performance and reducing noise levels further to ensure you hear more of what matters most - the music. An original Linn design, the first release of Linn Dynamik spent over three years in development to improve every aspect of our power supply, which plays a fundamental role in audio signal quality.

Linn Dynamik has been powering many Linn products across all ranges since July 2009 - look out for 'Powered by Linn Dynamik' on the base.

However, owners of older products can enjoy the same amazing new level of clarity from their existing system with a simple upgrade module.

A brief overview of the technological features and benefits of the Dynamik power supply upgrade.


Reduced susceptibility to Mains Borne Noise

Dynamik has improved filtering to minimise the susceptibility of mains borne noise from entering the power supply compared to Linn’s previous switched mode supplies. From our experience, having dedicated internal filters is more effective that having an external filter/conditioner which can allow product-to-product interactions with detrimental effects on the audio performance.


Reduced Emissions

Dynamik has improved filtering to reduce the operating noise from exiting the power supply and affecting other products within the system. Typically, this noise can be in the Radio Frequency range, where the noise can capacitively couple between power cables, analogue interconnects or speaker cables, degrading the system performance.


Lower Noise

Dynamik has improved filtering to reduce the operating noise from entering the audio circuits that the Dynamik is powering. This improves the overall noise floor of the audio electronics, resulting in better performance.


Faster Response

The control loops in Dynamik have been improved. This enables the power supply to react faster to changes in the music. In a power amplifier this reduces the ripple on the voltage rails which is a source of noise/distortion coherent with the music. Dynamik is our fastest switch mode power supply yet, making it an ever bigger improvement over traditional linear power supplies (which have no feedback from the secondary to the primary so they must rely upon storing power in banks of capacitors, which results in long signal paths which limit the product performance).


Specific to the Power Amplifier Dynamik

(Applies to Klimax Solo, Klimax Twin, Akurate/Majik/Chakra power amplifiers, Majik-I, Majik DSM, Classik Music, Classik Movie, Klimax loudspeakers, Akubarik, AV 2250/5125)

Increased Power

The Power Amplifier Dynamik Power Supply has a 30% increase in its RMS output power. This provides more power to the amplifier stages to enable the amplifier to control the drive units more effectively.

Faster Response

The control loops in Dynamik has been improved. This enables the power supply to react faster to changes in the music. Non-Coherent switching

The Dynamik has “spread spectrum” switching. This means the inevitable (but reduced) operating noise is non-coherent with the audio and has no fixed tones, which reduces the effect of fixed tones in the noise floor of the audio electronics.

Increased Switching frequency

The switching frequency in Dynamik has increased by a factor of 2.5. This enables the power supply to react faster to changes in the load whilst pushing the operating noise further away from the audio frequency range, resulting in better audio performance of the circuits being powered by Dynamik.
