Introduction

This page describes in detail each of the user settings available on all Linn network preamplifiers. Certain settings may not be available on all preamps, depending on the features supported by specific product model. Available features are indicated in the product specific documentation.

User settings are divided into two categories, Control and Configuration.

Control Settings

Control settings relate to properties that may typically be modified by a user on a regular basis (e.g Volume). These settings are typically adjusted using a control point application such as KinskyDesktop.

Configuration Settings

Configuration settings relate to properties that are normally only modified occasionally (e.g Source Name). These settings are typically adjusted using an application aimed specifically at configuration such as Konfig.

Name

This is the name of the device as it appears on the network.

Room

This is the name of the room that the device is assigned to.

Sources

Every preamp has a number of sources. Each source has a number of parameters. Some source paramaters, such as Source Name, exist on every source. Other source parameters only exist on certain types of sources, such as Source Adc Attenuate.

Source Name

This is the name of the source as it appears on the front panel of the device or in the list of sources displayed in a control point. Every source has a Source Name.

Source Visible

This is aboolean (true or false) setting that determines whether the source should appear in source lists on the control point or when browsing through sources on the front panel. Every source has a Source Visible setting.

Source Unity Gain

This is a boolean (true or false) setting that determines whether audio from that source should be affected by the volume settings of the preamp. When Source Unity Gain is set to true, the audio from the source will be output at unity gain volume (ie the same volume as the input) and adjusting the preamp volume will have no effect while that particular source is active (selected). Every preamp source has a Source Unity Gain setting.
