{{FAQ:Crestron Driver}}
This allows new firmware features and new product support WITHOUT the need for any Crestron driver updates.

==Capabilities==

*Supports the Davaar firmware release, Note: 4th November 2022: still to be release, that will add support for the ‘Gateway Server’ component, Gateway API, to the products can be found [[#Products_providing_Gateway_API| HERE]]

*Series4 Processor support

*This works with other non-Crestron control points. That is, and changes by other control devices are shown in the Crestron panels

*Control up to 20 DS/rooms with up to 8 Crestron control points setup (One Kustom DSM is classed as up to 12 DS with up to 8 Room + up to 4 Streamers)

==Features:==

::* Automatic discovery of a Gateway API instance within the local network and setup of a WebSockets connection.

::* Room selection - each CCP has an actively selected room within the house that can be changed via the CCP itself.

::* Grouping - Uses the current grouping of rooms set via Kazoo/LinnApp.

:::*This will be reflected in the room selection menu and automatically update whenever a change in grouping occurs.

:::*The standby states and volumes of listening rooms can be set individually

::* For each room in the house the user has control over the following DS functionalities:

:::* Standby control - each room can be toggled between standby states

:::* Volume control - step up/down, set absolute, mute toggle

:::* Toggle shuffle and repeat states for appropriate sources

:::* Transport control over any active playlist - play, pause, play/pause toggle, skip previous, skip next

:::* Source selection - capable of selecting any visible external source and Spotify connect

:::* Metadata - retrieves basic metadata for currently playing item including artwork

:::* PIN selection - as on the current physical Linn DS units , 6 customizable pins can be setup using a Linn control point (Kazoo/LinnApp) to provide easy access to a favourite radio station, playlist, or external source

:::* Pin metadata - the name and associated artwork for each pin can also be accessed via the module and displayed on a Crestron control point interface

::* Standby states of all rooms within the house can be changed quickly and easily from a room selection menu.

There is extensive and actively maintained support for Linn devices within Crestron systems. These drivers allow for potentially several Linn devices to be controlled through a Crestron control point (touch panel, iPad, etc). This support works alongside our own software, Linn App. For systems with many devices the driver organises the available rooms into a selection menu, and you can switch between active room for each Crestron control point as in Linn App. This support allows for seamless integration of the Kustom DSM alongside other DS/DSM devices.

There is a choice of support depending on the Crestron hardware available. Each option comes with setup guides and a demo project with a touch panel designed in VisionTools Pro-e for testing out their capabilities. The driver can then be customized and integrated into a customer’s system alongside other home automation features. For all options, the driver communicates with Linn’s CI Gateway software that can be enabled on certain Linn devices. If one of these devices is not available, then Linn Kazoo Server includes the CI Gateway and can be used instead.

For Crestron 4-Series Processors:

Linn Crestron 4-Series Driver for SIMPL Windows

Linn Crestron 4-Series Driver for SIMPL#Pro

These two options offer the same underlying driver with different approaches, whether you wish to design a system using SIMPL Windows or SIMPL#Pro. They offer all the basic control functionality of the Linn Lite driver alongside many extra features and optional modules that add extra functionality such as
• More extensive metadata and seeking within audio tracks.
• Browsing and searching of streaming services: Airable radio, TIDAL, Qobuz
• Modifying the active playlist of a Linn DS/DSM
• Rearranging the groupings of Linn DS/DSM devices to play the same audio source.
• Browsing and creation of Linn account playlists
• Browsing and searching of a local media server (such as Minim, Twonky, or Kazoo Server)
If you wish to keep the implementation simple, however, then these optional modules can be omitted.

For Crestron 3-Series Processors:
Linn Lite Crestron Driver for SIMPL Windows
This driver offers control over basic functionality of Linn DS/DSM devices such as standby, volume, transport control (play/pause/skip/shuffle/repeat), etc. Metadata about what is currently playing can be displayed, and pin selection allows an easy way to quickly select for playback from some favourite options. A string input allows commands using a Linn-defined protocol, LPEC, to be sent directly to rooms, allowing for macros to be set up.
This uses the Kazoo Server with API Gateway enabled.
