KivorGUI will not run on Windows Vista
- Delete the KivorGUI51.exe with .OPT file from the VISTA PC.
- Run the Windows VISTA Service Pack1 on the PC (dated April 2008)
- Add the KivorGUI51.exe to a user directory, (NOT the Program files directory)
- Create a Shortcut on the desktop,
- Run the KivorGUI51 shortcut to setup the connection settings
- Exit and restart the KivorGUI51 and all should be working.
KivorGUI settings will not save, always goes to COM1
The KivorGUI will create and OPT file with its options, but because of Windows securities in Windows Vista, 7 & 8 this may stop the KiviorGUI from creating the OPT file.
The solution is to:
- Add the KivorGUI51.exe to a user directory, (NOT the Program files directory)
- Create a Shortcut on the desktop,
- Run the KivorGUI51 shortcut to setup the connection settings
- Exit and restart the KivorGUI51 and all should be working.
Your Music will NOT import in to the Akurate Music Server
In some situations, the AMS will not import Music from its Library import folders. This is because the NAS is not granting permission for the Akurate Music Server to rename and move these fles.To allow this function to happen you will need to change the security level of the NAS .
To perform this action on the Netgear ReadyNAS, do the following:
- Check that the ReadyNas has the lastest version firmware (Raidiator V4.1.4 23rd Sept 2008)
- Go into the ReadyNAS setup webpage
- Select the Security –SECURITY MODE
- Within this page change the mode to USER and APPLY
- Go in to the Shares
- select your Media folder
- Click on the CIFS (Win/Mac)
- Within this page,
1. in the Advance CIFS permission
a) Enable "Automatically set permissions on new files and folders."
b) Enable "Do not allow ACL changes to be more restrictive than this"
c) keep all rights to Read/Write
2. enable "Guest Access" within the Share Access Restrictions
- Hit Apply
- Go into the "Security" - "User & group accounts" page,
- then via te drop-down box select Preferences
- Within the Prerences select "Private home shares for users:" - DISABLE
- Hit Apply
- Reboot the NAS
The ReadyNAS is now setup to allow the AMS to do the import work required.
Note: If you have already copied Music in to the /import or /Extlib folders. Delete these files or move them to another location. (The advanced CIFS right only apply on new files , they will not change any existing files in the system.)
This change in the security does not affect the DS playback functionality.
QNAP NAS
Within the “Network Share Management” ensure check that the “Qmultimedia” folder Property has
- “Full access” for all Users and Groups
- Guest Access Right is “Full access”
- NFS ACCESS RIGHT set to "No limit"
If these have not been setup, we recommend
- changing the properties to as above,
- Powering off the Akurate Music Server
- deleting the “/import” & “/Extlib” folders from the QNAP NAS, If this is a brand new install, we would also recommend deleting the “/audio” folder. This will delete all Music from the AMS, but will make sure that there are no conflicts with file/folder properties and rights
- Restarting the Akurate Music Server. This should create the new folders and files on the NAS. (You may have to leave the AMS for approx. 30minutes to get its house together).
- Finished.
Note:
CIFS / SMBv1 support was removed from NAS's due to security issues. This would only allow the Akurate Music Server read access to the NAS and not allow any media added.
The AMS 4.1.0 release code will ONLY import FLAC files with Metadata tags.
The AMS will also reject files with long file names and Tracknames. (Typically longer than 64 chars)
