View a short screencast of a DS software upgrade (steps 1 & 2). 9.5MB Flash file - sequence has been shortened a little to reduce file size.

There are three simple steps to upgrading your Linn DS software:

  1. Upgrade Konfig (see video)
  2. Upgrade Linn DS player(s) (see video)
  3. Upgrade control software (e.g. Kinsky)

Your Linn DS player will be offline for a few minutes while it updates (step 2). If you encounter any problems, please contact your Linn Specialist or Linn, or post on our forum for community support.

Important: Control Software Compatibility

If you are using third-party control software (e.g. Songbook, Chorus) then you should contact the vendor to ensure that there is a version compatible with the latest Linn release before starting the upgrade process.

Step 1 - Upgrade Konfig

  1. Start Konfig (normally Start | Programs | Linn | Konfig)
  2. If you have the Check for Updates option enabled (and there is a new version waiting), you will see Konfig Software Update Available and the new version number (see fig. 1, below). Choose Update Now to begin updating Konfig
  3. If you don't have Check for Updates enabled, Konfig will start normally. Choose Tools | Check for Updates and Update Now
  4. Konfig will download the required files (see fig. 2, below) - which may take a few minutes - before launching the installation program
  5. Accept the license agreement and install Konfig as normal
  6. If you have a problem updating, see Troubleshooting

Step 2 - Upgrade Linn DS player(s)

  1. Start Konfig (after ensuring you have latest version, see Step 1 above)
  2. Select your Linn DS player from the devices displayed in the main Konfig window
  3. Choose the Update tab for that device and select the latest version before clicking Update and then Yes (see fig. 3, below)
  4. Konfig will download the firmware update and proceed to updating the selected DS player (see fig. 4, below)
  5. Once complete you will see an Update Completed Successfully message and your DS player will be re-started
  6. Repeat steps 2-3 for any additional DS players or choose Tools | Update All Devices

Step 3 - Upgrade control software

  1. You should now upgrade your control point(s) (e.g. PC, iPad, iPod, Android) to take advantage of the latest features
  2. For Linn control software, including the Kinsky family, visit our Software page to download and install the latest version
  3. For third-party software, contact your vendor or upgrade directly from within the software. You should always ensure that there is a compatible version of this software before starting the whole upgrade process - please contact your Linn Specialist if you have any doubts

Upgrade Complete

Once all 3 steps are complete, play music on your DS player to confirm that everything is working ok. If you encounter any problems, please contact your Linn Specialist or Linn, or post on our forum for community support.
